Marilyn DeBrosse

Marilyn DeBrosse, a lifelong resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2026. She was born on December 22, 1932 in Toledo to Louis Frank Haffner and Marguerite (Shriner) Haffner. From an early age, she embraced life with energy and enthusiasm, carrying that spirit with her throughout the years. She shared a beautiful love story with her husband Herman, marrying him in 1953. She often said he was always "the one" for her-a testament to their deep and lasting bond. Family was at the center of Marilyn's life. She cherished time spent together. Whether it was a backyard cookout and pool party, long weekends at Cedar Point and Salt Fork, or the week-long family vacations at Myrtle Beach. So many great memories of the camping trips in the sometime leaky tent camper. Marilyn and Herman also enjoyed many travel vacations and cruises with friends and siblings. Marilyn had a wide circle of friends which contributed to an active and fulfilling life. Her many hobbies included playing cards (especially Bridge), sewing, gardening, bowling, golfing and was an avid reader. Let us not forget her beloved Detroit Tigers! Professionally, she began working at Metropolitan Life shortly after high school. After marrying and raising her family, she later returned to the workforce, including time at Mellocraft, before dedicating 20 years as an executive secretary at Craft House from 1975 to 1995. She was also a very active and devoted parishioner of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns for over 60 years, reflecting her deep faith and commitment to her community. Her Catholic faith was a central part of who she was. She is survived by children: Michael (Debra) DeBrosse, Peggy (Gary) Masters, Terri (Jeff) Gramling, and Jennifer Starr. Also surviving are her grandchildren Meghan (Eric) Ford, Katie (Nick) Kresta, Jillian (Jeremy) Langton, Tayler DeBrosse, Jamie (Robbie) Rego, Melissa (Brandon) Stark, Jessica Masters, Kerri (Conor) Neville, Kristin (Andrew) Parks, Matthew (Kellie) Starr, and Sara Starr; and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman DeBrosse. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13 at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church or to Wounded Warrriors.
