Lee Wilson Forgette

Lee Wilson Forgette, 70, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2013. He was born in Bay City, MI July 25, 1943 to Theodore W. and Henrietta (Slezak) Forgette. They preceded him in death. Lee was a nurse for many years, working with special needs and psychiatric patients at the Toledo Mental Health Center . He had many diverse hobbies and interests as a HAM radio operator, leather craftsman, Skywarn Storm Watcher. Lee loved nature and the outdoors, camping and fishing. He was an avid kayaker, a talented vocalist and played the harmonica “just for fun”. Lee was a dedicated volunteer for more than 20 years with The American Red Cross as a local and national Disaster Relief Team Leader and instructor of First Aid, CPR and Pet First Aid. His kind and gentle response to numerous hurricanes, tornadoes, fires and floods always brought a smile and a ray of hope to all that met him. He also volunteered with Special Olympics and loved his athletes. Lee was an enthusiastic instructor with CERT-(Community Emergency Response Team) and was usually the first to enter a smoke filled house to “rescue” a frightened trainee. Lee volunteered at the Toledo Zoo in the education department. He loved all animals, and was proficient in the art of birdcalls. He was also was an ordained minister of God and was honored to perform the wedding ceremonies of 2 of his granddaughters. Lee was very proud of his Native American heritage (Blackfoot Tribe) and maintained a spiritual connection to his ancestors. Lee is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Susan Radey Forgette, stepson, Ryan Radey, step daughter Jacqueline Kessler, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his Puggles, Mr. Beau Jingles and Little Bear and special friend, Victor. If there is a stairway to heaven Lee paddled his kayak all the way up pausing only briefly to wave goodbye. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S.Reynolds Rd., on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 10 – 12 p.m., with a “sharing of memories” service from 12-1 p.m. Interment will be private.
