Frances Z Kiger

Frances Z. Kiger November 17, 1910 - June 03, 2008 Kiger Frances Z. Frances Z. Kiger age 97, died Tuesday June 3,2008 in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. She lived the last five years at the Astor House at Spring Meadows. She was born November 17, 1910 in Toledo, the daughter of Louis and Catherine Lohberger Urban. On August 22, 1953 she married James D. Kiger at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1998. She attended St. Mary's grade school and graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1929. After graduating she pursued a nursing career and graduated from St. Vincent's School of Nursing in 1932. She attended the University of Michigan taking public health courses and worked in the private sector of nursing care for thirteen years. She was then employed by Lucas County Health Department as staff nurse where she worked for twenty-nine years until retiring as supervisor in 1974. She was a long time member of St. Mary's Parish and presently a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish. She was a member of the Ohio Public Health Association, Alumni of St. Vincent's School of Nursing, Notre Dame Academy, member of LCBA #1382 and Daughters of Isabella's #325 Santa Marie Circle. Frances is survived by nephews Victor (Dolly) Urban of Talmadage, Ohio, William (Carol) McNeil of Adrian, Michigan, Tony (Danine) Urban of Leesburgh, Florida, and nieces Joanne (Don) Brill of Annapolis, Maryland and Zita (Jake) Volmar of Toledo. Beside her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Louis (Zita), Anthony (Theresa) Urban and Karl, and sisters Cecilia (William) McNeil and Marie Urban; nephews Franklin (Mary) Alvin (Helen) and Donald (Patricia), Louis (Cecilia) Urban and nieces Mildred (Keith) Aims, and Marie (Ralph) Mason. She would like to thank the staff at the Astor House and the many care-givers, especially Tinna Carroll and special friend Helen Mae Dickman for their care and kindness. Friends my call at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd, on Friday from 3 to 8pm with a Rosary Service at 7pm. Funeral Services will begin in the mortuary on Saturday at 10:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Joan of Arc Church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
