Mary Pat Anderson

On November 2nd, the feast of All Souls' Day, we entrusted Mary Pat Anderson, our mom, to Almighty God. Beloved wife of 54 years to the late Thomas H. Anderson; devoted mother to their 14 children; grandmother to 55; and great-grandmother to a steadily growing next generation. Mom was an amazing and inspiring person. She gave birth to 12 children, adopted the 13th, and opened up our home to foster children, one of whom we consider our 14th. She taught us many good, true, and beautiful lessons in life. She was a principled woman. She had a deep and steady faith, and for years, attended daily Mass. Even in her busy years raising her large family, daily Mass and prayer life were always the aim. She believed strongly that family is the bedrock of society, and her whole life reflected this truth. She prioritized the importance of family unity. She exemplified this through her heroic organization of delicious daily dinners at 6:00 sharp. Her 55 grandchildren received birthday and holiday cards every year, with crisp bills tucked inside. She gifted hundreds of books. Every holiday was a great excuse to get everyone together to celebrate-Mom was great at creating tradition. She had a heart for fun, though she ran a tight ship. Mom had the curiosity and energy of a child. Mom was a lover of the arts and good literature, an avid traveler, an excellent gardener, and a fabulous baker. These loves, first shared with Dad, were passed on and are among the ways her family will enshrine her memory. Mom always loved a plan. Known to never turn down an invitation, Mom was an enthusiastic participant. So it gives us joy to imagine Mom accepting the Lord's invitation to come home to a celebration like no other. And as she greets our dad and all those who have gone before her, along with the angels and saints, one can almost hear them say in unison, "Welcome home, Mary Pat! Well done, good and faithful servant." Mary Pat is survived by her children: Mary, Andy (Rebecca), Molly McCartney (Mike), Matt (Kate), Janet Schoen (Terry), Ellen Carr (Thomas), Ted (Vicki Westbrook), Fritz (Lori), Alex (Maureen), Kitty Judy (Ken), Tom (Marisel Moreno), Scott Fisk (Julie), and Angel. Mary Pat was preceded in death by her husband Tom; son Tony; grandson Russ Anderson; parents Carl and Mary Adamshick; brothers Rufus and Rick Adamshick; and sister Sherry Hickey. Visitation for Mary Pat will be Friday, November 8, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Road, Toledo. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, November 9, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
