Michael John MacAllister

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael John MacAllister, "Mick", "Mickey"on April 17, 2025, in his beloved hometown of Toledo, Ohio. Michael was born on July 28, 1955, to James L. MacAllister and Yvonne Glass Werley, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his brother Larry MacAllister and his ex-wife and lifelong friend, Kay Brink MacAllister. Michael's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit. He graduated from Libbey High School in 1973, where his love for the game of golf blossomed, playing on the varsity team under the guidance of Coach Crystal Ellis. His passion for golf extended beyond his high school years, reflecting his competitive yet friendly nature. Throughout his professional journey, Michael dedicated over 35 years of service to the restaurant industry, notably with M & M Restaurant Supply and Keystone Foods. He retired in September 2012, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment. His dedication and work ethic were matched only by his generosity of spirit, making him a cherished colleague and friend to many. Michael was deeply involved in his community; he was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 20 and served as a district chair for Northwest Ohio's Alcoholics Anonymous. He celebrated 41 years of sobriety in February 2025, a testament to his resilience and strength, inspiring countless individuals along the way. He is survived by his loving son, Matt MacAllister, and his cherished granddaughter, Khloe Byers. Michael is also survived by his brothers, Mark Douglas, Tim MacAllister, David (Patty) MacAllister, Alan (Patti) DeLelles, and Greg (Sheila) DeLelles, who will carry forward the warmth and memories of their shared childhood. An outgoing soul, Michael had a gift for connecting with others. He had a natural ability to engage anyone in conversation and made friends wherever he went. His interests were as varied as his friendships-he loved golf, classic cars and Cadillacs, college football , earning the nick name "Spartan Mike". He adored the companionship of all animals, always finding joy in the simplest of moments. Family and friends can gather to honor Michael's memory on April 25, 2025, at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. with a visitation from 3:00 -8:00 p.m. and the ceremony at 7:30. His life will be celebrated not just in remembrance of the moments he shared with us, but also in the spirit of friendship and love that he embodied. Michael John MacAllister's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He was a friend to all, a devoted father and grandfather, and a man of remarkable kindness. May he rest in peace, embraced by the love of those who have gone before him.
