Marjorie Ann DeRan

Marjorie Ann DeRan, 92, died peacefully in her sleep on December 16, 2018 at the Sunset Village in Sylvania under the care of Ashanti Hospice. She was born on April 1, 1926 in Tiffin, Ohio to Charles and Bertha (Kuhn) Distel. Margie graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was a wonderful mother. She also was cafeteria manager at Union School in Maumee from 1984-1996. Margie loved dogs- all shapes, sizes and breeds. She adored babies, especially her great-grandchildren. She was an avid Detroit Red Wings hockey fan, and an Ohio State football fan. Margie was always angered she had to share her April 1st birthday with Coach Bo Schembechler from that "team up north". Margie is survived by her children, Timothy DeRan, Colleen (Alan) Lancz, Dennis (Tracy) DeRan, Maureen (Tom) Hannan, Barry DeRan (fiance Erin Wesley); grandchildren, Aaron, Jeff, Michael and Sean DeRan, Stephanie Lancz, Brandon and Taylor DeRan, Matt, Pete, and Jon Hannan, MacKenzie, Ian and Barry DeRan; great grandchildren, Eliza and Maebel DeRan, Beckett Makley , Harlowe DeRan, Tayvah, Jayvan and Caden DeRan. Her brother Donald Distel also survives. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Charles DeRan in 1987, her grandson Brian DeRan, and siblings Charles and Thomas Distel, and Mary Lou Brickner. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21 at St. Joseph Church in Sylvania from 10:30 until the time of the Funeral Mass at noon. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Coyle Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Special thanks to the staff at West Park Place for their love and care for mom for the last 3 years, especially Martha and Lori of Senior Care Management, Miss Janie, Monica and "mom", Dorothy. Thank you Bill Rood for being mom's friend, Scrabble buddy and escort home when things became cloudy. Thank you to Sunset Village staff for the last 3 months of care for mom. Allie and Joselyn, you were "my girls" which means you were very special to Margie. Thank you Lathea for your prayers with mom to help her cope with life's changes.
