Lawrence J. Cramer

Lawrence J. Cramer, 85 of Toledo, OH passed away February 13, 2012. Lawrence was born in Stryker, OH on July 18, 1926 to Grace and Orville Cramer. Lawrence was raised on a farm outside Montpeliar, OH. Larry attended eight years of grade school in a one room school house. He then went on to attend Montpeliar High School. He began driving truck at age 19 for a living with various trucking firms, ending in retirement from Interstate Truck Lines in 1984 after 25 years. He place 4th in the Ohio State Truck Rodeo in 1965, in addition he also received the Million Mile Perfect Driving Award. As a result of his years on the road, he became so familiar with any and every route east of the Mississippi he was able to give exact directions without looking at a map. Larry (as he was known to many) enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. His true passion was fishing. He enjoyed his time on the water with his dog Duke, (his fishing buddy) along with many of his other fishing friends. Larry was a loving and caring husband, devoted father, grandpa, and great-great grandpa, a loyal and helpful friend. Everyone loved Larry very much. His wisdom, advice and light-hearted spirit will always be cherished, remembered and appreciated by family and friends. Lawrence is survived by his children, Patty R. (Robert) Wrench, Cheryl J. (James) McIntyre, Elaine (Harold) Hill, Richard Knight (Tammy Turnbull), Thomas (Anna) Knight, Phyllis Krego (Paul Vizcarra) in addition to his loving companion of 11 years, Suzanne Smith, daughter-in-law Mary Cramer, 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, along with his sister Marie Trusch and brother Ralph (Kathy) Cramer and sister-in-law Dessie Cramer. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents Grace and Orville, brother Harvey, son Eric D. Cramer and wife Maureen R. Cramer. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice and staff. The family will be receiving friends at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m., in the mortuary, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to offer memorials are asked to consider a donation to a Hospice or a charity of their choice.
