Judith A. McBride Judith A. McBride passed away unexpectedly on Monday December 23, 2019 at her home in Perrysburg, OH. Judy, as she preferred to be called, was 79 years old. Judy was born on January 13, 1940 in Lafayette, Indiana to Charles and Louise Lamb. There she was raised with her two younger sisters by her mother. Judy was a beautiful shy girl who graduated from Jefferson High School. She worked as a data entry specialist at Purdue University where she also attended some classes. Here she met her husband, Jerome, who caught her eye “because he came in with a lit cigarette behind his ear” needing help with his data punch card. He preceded her in death in 2006. Judy and Jerry were married on June 3, 1967 in Lafayette, IN at St. Mary’s Cathedral. They moved to the Bronx, NY, where Jerry was born and raised. They soon moved to Hastings, NY after the birth of their first daughter, Joelle Angela. They were blessed again with their second daughter Julie Ann. The family moved to Worthington, OH in 1973 where they resided for six years. Here Judy made several dear friends, especially Fina Kroenberg. She and her husband became actively involved in neighborhood events, hosting pool parties at their home for friends and family, and enjoying a monthly gourmet cooking club. Judy was dedicated to being at home and raising her daughters, volunteering in their Campfire Girl Troops, and she was the leader of Julie’s group. She enjoyed the troop trips to Camp Wyandot with both daughters, and here is when her love of crafts and creativity blossomed. Judy and Jerry, as well as several of their neighborhood friends learned to disco, and Judy even tried out golfing. In 1979, the family moved to Mansfield, OH. Her confidence was growing, and she quickly joined a variety of clubs, a bowling league, and met another dear friend Sharon Gildee. Judy and Jerry enjoyed hosting monthly dinner parties, and attending shows and musicals at the local theatre. Judy especially loved seeing the Lettermen and Bobby Vinton perform there. Her love of crafting continued, and here she learned to do stained glass art work and created many beautiful pieces. Jerry was recruited at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, in 1983. Judy remained in Mansfield with her daughters while he traveled back and forth and they looked for a home. The family moved in 1984, and Judy stayed at home to help Joelle make the difficult transition with the move. She later took a full-time job as a Computer Specialist at Spackenkill High School in Poughkeepsie, NY. She remained here until she retired in January, 2006. Judy made many wonderful friends at Spackenkill, and she positively impacted a multitude of students she assisted there. While in Poughkeepsie, Judy pursued a certificate in Graphic Design at Marist College and she took many courses to learn about computer software programs. Judy was the Treasurer of the Teachers' Union, and she was active in a variety of community activities and events. In 2006, Judy moved to Perrysburg, OH to live near both of her daughters and her grandchildren. She and her husband designed their own home here. Judy lost her husband very unexpectedly five months after they moved to Ohio. She spent the majority of her time with Joelle and her husband Ted Floriana, and their two children Cameron and Connor, as well as with Julie Stepp and Joel LeCaptain and her children Nicole and Nathan. Judy adored her grandchildren and cherished watching them grow-up, seeing them at their sporting events, and being able to attend their school programs and concerts. She would generously support and donate to their every event, and she was their biggest supporter even if she could not always be there physically she was always with them in spirit. She always wanted to have her grandkids at her home for meals, visits, holidays, and anytime she could. She loved their tradition of the four of them coming over each year to help her put up her Christmas tree, then they watched a movie together, the kids built forts, slept over, and decorated cookies with her. Throughout the years she had many special individual times and visits with each grandchild that were very special memories for her. She had the pleasure of having her four grandchildren with her the Friday before she died putting up her tree and enjoying their company and conversations. Judy did the same with her daughters—such as preparing Thanksgiving dinner with Joelle, and having weekly Sunday evening dinners with Julie and her family. Judy leaves behind her two sisters Mary Lou Fadely (Robert) and Patricia Conquest (Douglas)of Georgetown, TX. Judy loved and adored her sisters and brother-in-laws. Though she and Mary Lou would fight as children, Mary Lou often hiding in the corn field from Judy until their mom came home from work, they developed a deep loving bond and friendship-especially after Mary Lou married Bob. The moment her sister Pat was born she was smitten and has always loved her and cherished their relationship. When traveling to TX, Judy enjoyed cooking with Pat and playing Words With Friends. Judy loved becoming an aunt when Mary Lou and Bob had their son Steve. She truly adored him and they had a wonderful relationship. When Steve married Helen she was overjoyed for both of them. Aunt Judy aka “AJ” was over the moon when they had their son Will. She was completely devastated when Steve died in 2003 while Helen was pregnant with their beautiful daughter Peyton. Judy was so happy to learn that Helen had met someone and married Jay Balluer. When Judy was first introduced to Jay they immediately clicked and she instantly loved him as one of her own. Soon AJ had another wonderful great-niece-Sara. When Pat and Doug had their boys Drew and Evan, Judy was ecstatic. She loved her relationship with both of her nephews over the years. When Evan married Jessica, Judy so enjoyed the wedding, especially because all of her family was there, including her dear mother whom she loved so much. She adored Jess, and loved her great niece Sloan and her great nephew Lincoln. She was so happy to have been in Texas each year to meet them and see them grow. Although Judy was unable to attend Drew’s wedding to Sarah, she was so pleased to see him so happy. A year later she was able to meet Sarah and their son Alexander shortly after he was born. Judy was also very close to her in-laws who preceded her in death. Her mother-in-law Laura, sister-in-law Ethel, Brother-in-law Fred. She remained close to her sister-in-law Theresa (Fred) until her passing, and her niece Maureen. She leaves behind many other nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. Judy was well known and loved for her infectious laugh, beautiful smile, wonderful sense of humor, loving kindness, unending generosity, and warm heart. She loved to laugh, tell jokes, tease, and just be “ornery” as she would say. Judy enjoyed art, reading, computer games, gadgets, listening to music, watching her favorite movies, and feeding her birds. She was an avid fan of Jeopardy and The Ellen Show. She always said that since 2001 her main interest was her grandchildren. Judy was a wonderful daughter, exceptional sister, hard worker, faithful wife, loving mother, creative artist, amazing friend, outstanding aunt, awesome grandmother, and a compassionate member of the community wherever she was. She touched the lives of many and will never be forgotten. Judy said her greatest achievements were her daughters. She loved Ted and Joel as sons. Mom- our hearts are heavy and broken-especially with how we lost you. You were truly Gold Mom—one of a kind. But we know you are now up in Heaven with God in His loving arms eternally at peace healed in body, mind, and spirit. You are there with Dad, Grammy, Steve, Grandma, Ethel—the rest of the Bumbleburg and McBride family and all of the other loved ones each of us have lost— having a grand party up there until it is our time to join you. We miss you terribly and love you always. Services will be held at Coyle Funeral Home on Friday January 3, 2020. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. A prayer will occur from 11 a.m. -12 p.m. An Interment Service will follow at St. Rose Cemetery in Perrysburg, OH. Judy’s ashes will be placed next to her husband, Jerome. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or theAlzheimer’s/Dementia Association.
