John Ross Titus

John Ross Titus; A man who had wide interests, and was an expert in several areas. John Ross Titus was born in Bellevue, Ohio, February 25th, 1935 to parents Richard and Mildred, and has died on February 27th, 2026. John's parents Richard H. and Mildred R. Titus, as well as John's sister, Barbara Sue Buettner, and brother, Tom Titus preceded him in death. John's family moved to Toledo, Ohio, in 1938, where John attended both Fulton and Whittier Elementary School, and graduated from DeVilbiss High school in 1954. John played football his first two years of high school, watching his undefeated team win the city championship, raking 3rd in the state, his senior year. After serving two years in the U.S. Army until 1958, John later served an additional four years in the U.S. Army reserves. John attended Bowling Green State University in 1958, majoring in business administration. He was awarded his Bachelor's degree in 1964. As an active alumnus, John would join several BGSU committees, serve as treasurer for 2 years, and was a Falcon Club Season Ticket Holder for 43 years. Following graduation, John was employed for Moree Associates, a civil engineering firm, holding the title of office manager for almost a decade, until the firm's closing in 1983. He would work many interesting jobs in his lifetime, such as a tax consultant, armored car driver, and was a driver for Brinks. He would retire in 1997, and begin devoting his time to playing the organ, belonging to several Organ clubs, serving as both their President, and vice president. In June of 1975, John married Sandra Lee Jameson, whom he would faithfully remain married to, until his passing. John and Sandra were members of the Glendale Presbyterian church, joining after their wedding ceremony. They both enjoyed singing in the choir. John would become Deacon and Elder in the church. John later became a Mason in 1993, earning the title of Damascus Organist, and joined the Zenobia Shrine, in the same chapter his father served. John would hold the title of Zenobia Shrine Chanter, and became a 32nd degree Mason. After his stroke in 2007, it became harder for him to play the organ at hospice facilities, and other organizations, as his hands had become disabled. John is survived by his wife Sandra, nieces Kim (Dennis) Owczarzak, Cindy Pfaff, Heather (Matt) McClain, and Trilby (Greg) Burger. He is also survived by his 8 great nieces and nephews, and 3 great- great nieces and nephews. The visitation will be Saturday March 7th, from 12pm- 3pm, at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., Toledo. Interment will be private. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Kingston Residence, and the nurses at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
