Joan E Duggan

Joan Elizabeth Duggan, age 84, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2015 at Sunrise of Worthington, OH closely surrounded by family and friends. Joan was born in West Haven, CT on June 8, 1931 to Ben and Florence Moran. She graduated from West Haven High School and Albertus Magnus College in CT with a degree in social services. Joan married John “Jack” Duggan Jr. on October 8, 1955. The Family moved around the country; settling in Toledo, OH, in 1979. In Toledo, Joan and Jack helped found St. Joan of Arc parish, Joan worked and volunteered at St. John’s High School and enjoyed a membership at the Inverness Country Club. Joan enjoyed traveling the world with Jack, visiting family and friends. In retirement, Joan and Jack moved to Stuart, Florida where they enjoyed time with Bob and Monica Kelly (cousin), and Paul and Janice Bunnell (sister-in-law). She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed organizing gatherings with her kids, grandkids, and friends. Joan was preceded in death by her husband John “Jack” Duggan Jr. in 2006 after 50 years of marriage. She is survived by her children Robert (Leilani), Philadelphia, PA; Elizabeth, Port St. Lucie, FL; Thomas (Christina), Chicago, IL; Patricia, Columbus, OH; John (Alicia), Florence, KY and nephew Christopher (Kris) Bunnell, Orlando, FL. Her grandchildren Thomas Myers; Mallory Myers-Blumerick (Zack), Kelsey Myers, Andrew Myers; Caitlin Duggan, Ashlyn Duggan, Drew Duggan, Liam Duggan, and two great grandchildren, Brooklynn and Isabella. Joan will always be remembered for that Irish twinkle in her eye, great sense of humor, lovely smile and contagious laugh. Visitation will be held at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Sunday, November 22, from 2-7 pm where a scripture service will be held at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday beginning at 9:30 am in the mortuary followed by the funeral mass in St. Joan of Arc Church, 5856 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, Ohio at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 5725 Hill Ave, Toledo, OH. Donations in Joan’s memory may be given to Heartland Hospice Care of Columbus, Ohio at www.heartlandhospicefund.org.
