James Edward Gleason

James Edward Gleason October 28, 1955 - September 29th, 2025 James Edward Gleason, 69, of Holland, Ohio, passed away on September 29, 2025 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born on October 28, 1955, in Toledo, he was the son of Joseph and Virginia (Williams) Gleason. James was a proud graduate of St. Pius grade school and DeVilbiss High School, class of 1973, where he was an accomplished all-city tennis player, earning numerous accolades. He went on to attend the University of Toledo for two years before pursuing a successful career in the automotive and industrial painting fields. James was raised in the catholic church attending and serving at St. Pius X Church in Toledo and later joined the United Methodist Church with his wife. For over 20 years, James worked as an auto body technician at Maaco Auto Painting and various dealerships in Toledo. He later transitioned to O'Bars Machine & Tool, where he worked for 26 years as an industrial painter and machine operator before retiring. Jim had a wide range of interests. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed camping, and cherished outdoor activities, spending time in nature with family and friends. His love for animals was also well-known, particularly his affection for his dogs, Cooper and Fin, who were dear companions. In his youth, Jim had a passion for working on cars and was a dedicated sports fan, especially of the Green Bay Packers, Michigan Wolverines, and the Detroit Tigers. He shared this love for sports with his family, attending his children's activities and even coaching his son's coach pitch baseball team. In 1984, Jim met and married the love of his life, Lisa (Young) Gleason. Together, they raised two children and created many cherished memories. Jim also had a deep appreciation for jazz music and old-time rock & roll, which provided a backdrop to his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joseph H. Gleason, Jr. James is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa; his son, Matt (Heather) Gleason; his daughter, Tara Gleason; his two granddaughters, Logan Elizabeth and Paisley Ann, sister in law, Jeanette Gleason and nieces Sara, Stacy & Joanna and families. He is also survived by his loyal dogs, Cooper and Fin. Jim will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Tuesday, October 7 from 2:00-7:00 p.m.. The Funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8 at Coyle. Interment will be private.
