Howard Allen Littin, Sr.

Howard Allen Littin Sr., age 77 of Hillsdale, Michigan was called back to the Lord July 4, 2023. Toledo, Ohio was his home, where he was born and raised his family until his retirement. After finishing one last chore that many would agree was one of his favorite pastimes, mowing the lawn, he sat down to take a break and enjoy the warm summer weather. Closing his eyes after a job well done, he took his last breath. Howard was born on July 14, 1945 to David M. Sr. and Marjorie R. (Holmes) Littin in Toledo, OH. He married the love of his life, Diana Lousie (Walsh) Littin at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on November 12, 1966, became a dedicated father October 2, 1967, a proud grandfather August 14, 1996, and a blessed great-grandfather November 12, 2021. Howard saw himself as a simple family man, but those who were blessed with him in their life knew how extraordinary he was. Howard's loyalty, love, and dedication to his family was his number one priority, passion, and reason for the Lord putting him on this earth. He excelled in the honor of providing a home, education, love (tough love included), and being a close second to his wife for being the title of his family's biggest fan. Just to name a few off a never ending list. A running family joke is when Howard was approached by the manager of the old Farmer Jacks with the comment "It would be cheaper to buy a cow Howard." Since he would buy 12 gallons of Vitamin D milk a week, so his growing children "will have healthy bones to help carry them throughout their life". Honesty, Dignity, Pride, and doing things the right way the first time was his life's motto that he tried to bestow into anyone that crossed his path. Howard enjoyed golf, swimming, car shows, Sunday evening lottery drawings at the Eagles Club in Bryan, OH, and the OSU Buckeyes. After 37.5 years of service at Toledo General Motors, he retired to the Littin Family lake house in Hillsdale, MI. where he made some incredible friends. His final fulfillment came from lovingly watching his grandchildren grow and venture forth into their own life journeys. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 38 years, Diana, son Joseph, and brother David Jr. Howard is surviving by his children, Howard Jr. (Karen), Dennis (Melissa), William (Sherrie), Norma, Michael (Jennifer); Grandchildren, Madison, Morgan (Devin), Diana, Tori, Amanda, Emma (Jacob), Nathan, Julianne, Erin, Gabriella, Ava, Layla, Noah, and Amelia; Great-grandchildren Boone, Eleanor and another great grandchild due in September. Siblings Jackie (Allen), Michael, and Barbara. As well as many other friends and family. Although your passing will weigh heavily on our hearts, we will always cherish the thought of you reunited with Mom and Joey. Thank you for the life you have given us. The Littin sons would like to extend an open invitation to anyone that wants to wear OSU gear in honor of the love Howard had for football during his honorary services. Family and friends may visit on Monday, July 10, 2023 at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S Reynolds Rd from 2:00-8:00 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the mortuary on Tuesday, July 11 starting at 9:15 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at St Charles Borromeo Church, 1842 Airport Hwy., Toledo, OH 43609, at 10:00 a.m. Interment services will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
