Harold Blackmore

Harold James Blackmore Jr., 89, passed away peacefully at Toledo Hospital on December 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 16, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, to Harold Sr. and Evelyn (Ewers) Blackmore. Harold was a proud graduate of Macomber High School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Army, where fate led him to meet the love of his life, Bernice, in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. They married August 12th, 1958 and returned to South Toledo, where they raised their three children. Harold dedicated the majority of his career to LOF, working as a furnace engineer. Always committed to providing for his family, he worked hard throughout his life to ensure they were well cared for. Despite his busy schedule, he always made time for the things he loved. He enjoyed family time, visiting the cottage, bowling, gambling, golfing, breakfast with his friends and celebrating holidays. Throughout their 55 years of marriage they enjoyed travelling the world and spending time at the casino. He was a lifelong member of the Masons and the Zenobia Shrine, where he proudly bowled the first 300 game in the Shriners 50-year history. After 47 years of dedicated service, Harold retired from LOF. Left to cherish his memory is their three children who were the light of their lives: daughter Deb Hartman; two sons: Robert (Janet) and Douglas (Christine) Blackmore. Harold was blessed with seven amazing grandchildren, sixteen beautiful great-grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Harold is survived by his sister, Susan (Jim) Barr. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernice, and his parents, Harold Sr. and Evelyn Blackmore. Harold's legacy is etched in the laughter, strength, and the unconditional love he shared. He leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but also a lifetime of lessons, memories, and joy that will carry on through all who loved him. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 South Reynolds Road, Toledo, Ohio 43614. A funeral service will take place on Friday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by interment with military honors at Toledo Memorial Park.
