Floyd Augustyniak

Floryan F. Augustyniak, age 92 of Toledo passed away peacefully on November 11, 2014. He was born to Frank and Hattie (Walczak) Augustyniak on March 24, 1922. He served his country proudly in U.S. Army Air Corps, during World War II, where he was a Military Policeman and was one of the men that actually guarded General Patton. Floyd married the love of his life, Joan Rochowiak, on February 8, 1946 and together they raised 4 children. He spent his career working at Willys Overland “Jeep” Company, until the time of his retirement, in 1984, after 43 years of service. Floyd was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church for 60 years where he was a longtime usher. He was also a charter member of Przybylski Post #642 that was named after his half-brother, Ollie Przybylski, who was killed in WWII. He loved playing the violin to polka music, enjoyed gambling, bowling, watching the Detroit Tigers and playing Euchre, he was known as a “master player”, everyone wanted to be his partner. Floyd attributed his long life to his regular shots of Black Velvet or as he called them “nippers”! He was the patriarch of the family. Floyd was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Joan; his parents; brothers, Ollie and Frank Przybylski, Norman and infant brother Edwin Augustyniak; sisters, Edna Zielinski and Delphine Switala; great-granddaughter, Shelby Augustyniak and daughter-in-law, Sue Augustyniak. He is survived by his children, Rose Kopaniasz; Mel (Kathy) Augustyniak; Elaine (Dave) Neitzel and Ann (Frank) Dailey; grandchildren, Bob (Jill), A.J. and Bryon (Marissa) Augustyniak, Steve (Renee) Kopaniasz, Phil (Stephanie) Neitzel and Jill (Sean) Jones; step-grandchildren, Josh (Terri) and Heather Zeigler; 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Friday, November 14th from 2-8 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be recited at 7 p.m. and an American Legion Service will immediately follow. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15th beginning at 9:15 a.m., in the mortuary, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Church at 10 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Charles Borromeo Church or to the American Legion Post #642.
