Dorothy Mae Overy

Dorothy Mae Overy, age 72 of Perrysburg, passed away on 24 April 2014 at The Waterford at Levis Commons. She was born December 19, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio to William L. Bernritter and Laveda (Siebenaler) Bernritter. She attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduated from Libbey High School in December of 1959. She worked for Toledo Trust until she married Raymond C. Overy in June of 1962 and started a family. Dorothy’s life revolved around her family. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and a Girl Scout leader. She attended her children’s sporting events and cheered them on even though she was never sure of the rules. As the children grew, she went to work at the Lion Store for 23 years, retiring after Dillard’s took over. Dorothy began a new phase in her life, taking care of the grandchildren during the day and attending the many school functions and sporting events that they were in. Dorothy loved to travel and was always open for new adventures; Dorothy and Ray were able to take several big trips to Alaska, Hawaii and a 19 day road trip to San Francisco and back, with a whole lot of stops along the way. She will be fondly remembered as someone who welcomed everyone with open arms and a snack in the cookie jar. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Raymond; sons, Jeffery (Doreen) Overy, Kevin (Julie) Overy,; Daughters Cathlene (Todd) Giesige, Cristine (Dennis) Schmenk and grandchildren Ryan Overy, Breck Overy, Blake Schmenk, Alec Schmenk, Dalton Giesige, Devon Giesige, Logan Giesige, Austin Overy, Amanda Overy, Brandi Overy, Brother in law Al Grindle, sister in law Peggy Ann Brochu. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents William and Laveda Bernritter and her sister Nancy Grindle. Friends may call at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. Toledo, OH on Sunday April 27, 2014 form 2 to 8 p.m. with a Scripture Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin in the mortuary at 9:30 am Monday April 28, followed by the funeral Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. The Family would like to thank the entire staff at The Waterford at Levis Commons for the loving care that they gave my wife and their mother. Thank you to the Staff of Gentiva Hospice who took us through these final steps.
