Cheryl Ann Taylor

Cheryl Taylor (Dodge) age 66, passed away peacefully August 26, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Cheryl was born in Toledo on August 21, 1957 to Richard and Frieda (Fastenmeier) Dodge. She graduated from Rogers High School, and the University of Toledo with a BSCE in Journalism. She married Richard Taylor and they enjoyed 38 wonderful years of marriage together. Cheryl tried her hand at journalism and real estate sales, but found her true passion and ability in the world of computer programming. She retired as the most senior business/technical analyst within Schindler Elevator. She was a leader in the implementation of SAP and developed tools to optimize Schindler's service operations. Cheryl had many interests including reading, bicycling, tennis, golf, pickleball, kayaking, fishing, and above all, dancing. She went dancing at every opportunity, most recently at the Elks Lodge on Friday nights. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, playing games and enjoying their company. She was a wonderful mother and wife, sister, and a true friend to all who knew her. Kind and loving, she was always there when someone needed a hand or just some friendly conversation. Cheryl dealt with her illness with strength, resolve, and incredible courage. She was an inspiration to those around her who were a part of her journey. She is survived by her husband, Richard, children Christine (Evan) Moghadam, and Derek Taylor, and brothers; Greg Dodge and David (Pat) Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd on Tuesday, September 5 from 3:00-7:00 with a Scripture Service at 7. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. John 23 Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 6, at 11:00 a.m., with an hour of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, St. John 23 Church, or St. Joseph Maumee Church. The family would like to thank Dr. Shaili Desai and the Toledo Clinic for the excellent care, compassion and friendship provided throughout many years of treatment.
