Carol Ann Sattler

Carol Ann Sattler, 59, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, October 2, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Carol was born March 2, 1950 in Toledo to James J. and Grace K. Sattler. She was a graduate of St. Ursula Academy and the University of Toledo. Carol loved being a teacher and cherished time spent with her students in the Sylvania School District where she worked as an Intervention Specialist. During her career, she taught at McCord Junior High School and Northview High School, where she worked until the time of her death. She had earlier taught in the Oregon School District and at Gesu Catholic School. Carol's greatest joy during her illness was that she was able to return to teaching for a period of time. Carol was preceded in death by her father, James J. Sattler. She is survived by her mother, Grace K. Sattler, brothers, James M. (Kathy) Sattler, Toledo, John P. (Becky) Sattler of So. Lake Tahoe, CA and Thomas (Julie) Sattler of Marietta, GA, sisters, Marcia (Mark) Richard of Maumee and Mary (Rhett) Miller of Kettering, OH. Carol loved and was loved dearly by her nieces and nephews; Matthew (Melissa) Sattler, Adam Sattler, Maemee Sattler, Michelle Sattler, Emily (Mark) Yavorsky, Jill Richard, Peter Richard, Jeff Miller, Theresa Miller, Brad Miller, Lindsay Sattler, Tim Sattler, Abigail Sattler, great nephew, James Sattler and the Wright family cousins. Carol's family wants to acknowledge the doctors and staff at Haematology-Oncology Associates, especially Drs. Krupp, Pipoly, Mueller and Horvath, along with Elaine Bender and the caring nurses and staff. The family also wishes to thank the nurses, aids and counselors from Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially Megan Demeter, Carol's Hospice nurse, for the extraordinary care, love and support they provided Carol and her family. Friends may call at the Coyle Funeral Home 1770 S. Reynolds Road Friday 3-8 p.m. where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. The funeral will begin in the mortuary Saturday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Gesu Church, 2049 Parkside Boulevard at 10 a.m. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may take the form of a contribution to Hosapice of Northwest Ohio or the charity of the donor's choice.
