Virginia L. Hughey, 91, passed away peacefully in her home, with her son Spencer holding her hand, on December 25, 2021. She was born on October 30, 1930 at her home in Trilby, to C. Fred and Della E. (Spencer) Hughey. Virginia graduated from high school in 1949, and started sewing aprons for Champion Spark Plug workers for 7 years. She was the owner of the Highland and Lowlander Club in Sylvania, Ohio, with several live bands on the weekends. Virginia worked most of her career as a cook for St. Luke's Hospital, as she was a board certified food and restaurant manager. She loved crocheting, knitting and gardening, and she was a voracious book reader. She enjoyed traveling with her mother, and taking care of her kitties. Virginia worked for many years for the Lucas County voting boards. She is survived by her 2 sons, George and Spencer Hughey, and her 2 cousins Charlene and Karen. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Robin. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Monday, January 3, from 4-8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at Coyle on Tuesday, January 4, at 11:00 a.m. with burial at Toledo Memorial Park.
