Philip G. Neitzel, age 92, passed away peacefully on his birthday May 2, 2021. He was born to George and Hazel (Stock) Neitzel on May 2, 1929. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He married the love of his life, Sandra West on April 19, 1952 and together they raised 3 sons. Phil spent his career working as an Electrician for Sun Oil Corporation. After his retirement, he and Sandy moved to Sarasota, FL where they enjoyed many years together. They were overjoyed every time their family was able to visit them in their tropical paradise. He was a past President, board member of the Siesta Beach House Association and Village Plaza Condominium Association. Phil was an avid bowler, golfer, played and coached softball and loved his Thursday night bridge club. He was very proud of his "hole in one" at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sandy; his parents and sister, Madelyn Eggert. Phil is survived by his sons, Steve (Katie) of West Chester, OH, Dave (Elaine) of Toledo, OH and Rick (Julie) of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Phil (Stephanie) Neitzel, Jill (Randy Fowler) Jones, Ashley (Travis) Duesing, Christopher (Kelly) Neitzel, Adam (Tara) Neitzel and Shannon Johnson; great-grandchildren, Paige, Payton, Gage and Dylan Jones, Jagger and Selia Neitzel, Hadley and Luella Duesing, Caroline and Sophie Neitzel and Parker and Eleanor Neitzel. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, OH 43614, at 10:00 a.m. where the family will begin receiving guests at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be private. Face masks and social distancing are required by the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially Angie Graham and Duane, for their compassionate care.
