Nancy Duran Romo

Nancy Duran Romo, 84, passed away peacefully in her home on February 8, 2022. She was born in Asherton, TX on April 1, 1937 to Ricardo and Aurora Duran. She attended Notre Dame High School, and worked several careers, including Libby Glass, Ford Motor, and as a teacher's aide. Her most enjoyable work involved her church, SS. Peter and Paul, where she served as the Sacristan, sang in the choir, and worked with Cursillo and Marriage Encounter. Nancy helped with missionary work at the migrant workers camps. She married the love of her life, Jose Garcia Romo on July 4, 1953. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her brothers and sisters. She also enjoyed music, traveling, dancing, crafting and gardening. She was a kind, generous mother and grandmother, always thinking of others. She is survived by her children, Elias Romo, Diana (Rafael) Angel, Susan (Eduardo) Belmares, Michael (Chris) Romo, and Ana (Robert) Modrowski; her grandchildren, Maricela (Eduardo) Alcala , Ellaina Belmares, Rafael (Blanca) Angel, Liza Belmares, Nichole Angel, Sara Romo, Viviana (Dustin) McKay, Hunter Modrowski and Faith Modrowski; great grandchildren, Rafael Angel III (Alejandra Sadin), Diana Angel, Paulo and Alan Alcala, Emily Angel, Emiliano Huerta, Camila Huerta and Juniper McKay, and her great-great grandchild Khalyla Angel. Her sibilings, Ruperta (Magdaleno) Pecina, Richard Duran, Petra (Michael) Mattison, Pat Torres-Clemete (Angel), Josie (Rolando) Briceno, Frank (Leticia) Duran, Mario (Margarita) Duran, Beatrice Duran (Diana Berry) also survive, as well as her sister in law, Delia Perales. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jose, her daughter Maricela Romo, siblings Vicente Duran, Jesus Garcia, Maria Lopez, John Duran and Josephina Esquivel. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Sunday, February 13, 2022 from 2-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7. The funeral will begin in the funeral home on Monday, February 14 at 10:00 with the Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.
