Mary Jo Borer Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Jo Borer, age 69 of Sylvania, OH, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2022. She was born to Floyd and Bertha (Szczerbiak) Wiciak on January 31, 1953. She attended Central Catholic High School and graduated from Woodward High School in 1971. Later in life, Mary Jo received her Bachelor's degree in Gerontology from Lourdes College. She began her career working for the Bishop's office of the Toledo Catholic Diocese. Throughout her life, she worked in nursing care centers as an Activities Director and retired from the Rosary Care Center. Mary Jo enjoyed spending time with the Sisters of St. Francis in Sylvania where she became an associate and was also a member of St. Joseph Church in Sylvania. She enjoyed many productions at the Peristyle, Stranahan Theater and the Valentine Theater. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Borer, M.D and her parents. She is survived by her best friend, Ken Kotas as well as many friends. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Friday, April 22nd from 3:00-7:00 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at St. Joseph Church, 5411 Main St., Sylvania, OH 43560, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Mary's friends would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Flower Hospital and Regency Hospital for their compassionate care.
