Marjorie Mae Jay
June 29, 1926 - March 19, 2020
Marjorie Mae “Margie”(Davison) Jay, age 93 of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 19, 2020 surrounded by her loving family in the Elizabeth Scott Community. Margie was born on June 29, 1926 to Cecil “Papa” and Jeanette “Mimi” Davison in Toledo, Ohio. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate the life of Margie Jay on Saturday, August 28th, 11:00 a.m. at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. All are invited for food and fellowship after the service at the home of Bill and Jan. Please leave a condolence message at CoyleFuneralHome.com. Marge was a bookkeeper for many years for the former Floyd P. Bucher and Son Contracting Company. She was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school was a member of the Altar Guild. Margie was also a proud member of Conn-Weisenberger Women’s Auxiliary, where her son, Bill, has played taps and grand daughter, Sarah, has sung the National Anthem on Memorial Day. She was also formerly affiliated with the Federation of Women’s Club Sorority IOTA PSI PI. Margie loved above all else her family and put them above everything else her entire life. Her favorite thing was to just go over to someone’s house for a cookout and a good campfire. She graduated from Whitmer, where she was a cheerleader and in the play “Arsenic and Old Lace”. She always worked but never missed a school activity with any of her kids, including being on the PTA, Camp Fire Girl Leader, Scout Den Mother, Rogers High School music boosters, and attended our concerts (as painful as some of those could be!). Her second great love was ice skating. After moving to Chicago to work for Western Union, she managed to find some great ponds to skate on. One day the truant officer tried to take her in – she was only 18, but looked much younger in her flannel shirt and jeans. She had a great sense of humor and wit – many goofy songs and ditties – and enjoyed writing short stories. We just discovered yet another bit of her wit in her funeral planning booklet. Under clothing that she would prefer to wear, she wrote “A smile” and drew one her goofy faces. Although she was never able to go to college, she did have a P.H.T (Putting Husband Through) degree. Her giggle will be missed by all who had the honor to experience it. Margie was a loving mother to her children Kyle (Kenneth) McPherson, Connie Zolg, William (Janice) Jay, grandchildren Gail Snyder, Robert Cole, Ashley (Robert) Schmidt, and Sarah (Philip) Sargent; step-grandchildren Jeremy, Chris, and Chad; great grandchildren (Vincent, Bryce, Chase, Russell, Brady, Landon and Bennett); numerous step-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her many nieces and nephews and their children. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband (Robert Jay), who were married on August 26, 1949; siblings Esther Romans, Robert (Gladys) Davison, Willard Davison, Jean Walker, and grandson Jason Cole. We would like to thank Elizabeth Scott for the wonderful care over the past almost five years, and for treating her like a family member. There were tears shed from several of them over the last few days. Please leave a condolence message for the family at CoyleFuneralHome.com.
