Kimberly Jo Gibney

August 31, 1962 - July 27, 2017

Kimberly Jo (DeYoung) Gibney, age 54 of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2017 after a long battle with depression. Kim was born to Carmen Tanis and Robert DeYoung on August 31, 1962. Kim was a caring, vibrant woman with a keen sense of humor. She had a never-ending curiosity about the world around her and was an avid reader. She had a passion for cooking and was always experimenting with new recipes. Kim also loved making beaded jewelry for friends and family. She had a flare for fashion and was a committed shopper for the best bargain in town. She attended Portage Northern High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Toledo. Kim was committed to trying to make the best of each day and will be missed greatly. She is survived by her son, Connor Gibney; mother, Carmen (Ronald) Tanis; sisters, Lisa (Skipton) Skiba, Tonya (Michael Williams) DeYoung, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 321 W. South Street, Kalamazoo, MI. There will be a reception following the service.
