Jay A. Miles Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jay A. Miles, age 74 of Toledo, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2022, while surrounded by his family. Jay was born to Paul and Mary Jayne (Austin) Miles on January 16, 1948. He was a 1966 graduate of Springfield High School. Jay spent his career working as a Sales Manager at General Car & Truck Leasing and later Freightliner, until the time of his retirement. He married the love of his life, Ruth Emerine, in the yard at his childhood home, on September 9, 2000. He was very involved with Shriners for many years. Jay was passionate about all sports and enjoyed watching and attending events. He loved Detroit everything- Tigers, Red Wings, Lions and Pistons except for college football where he followed the Ohio State Buckeyes, he bled scarlet and gray. Jay was a season ticket holder for Toledo Hockey from day one of the Storm and Walleye. He enjoyed taking his mother and family camping, fishing and on unknown road trips. Jay was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon (Tim) Smith. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; son, Brian (Shannon); daughter, Andrea Miles; grandson, Reichen Whitner; sister, Anne (Gene) Schwamberger and brother, Rodney (Char) Miles; step-son, Todd (Diana), Bret (Kelley) and Grant Treece, as well as many nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Tuesday, March 15th from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, March 16th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
