James Martin Maples, 73, of Toledo, Ohio passed away August 15th, 2019. He was born March 6, 1946 in Scottsboro, Alabama. James was the son of James C. Maples and Rose (Houck) Maples. James served in the Air Force from 1964 – 1968 during the Vietnam War. James worked at Flight Safety International for 25 years as a Corporate Jet pilot, FAA Examiner, and Flight and Simulator Instructor. James was an avid elk hunter. He loved going elk hunting in the Flat Tops in Meeker, Colorado. He was a life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Pheasants Forever, and North American Hunting Club. James loved planting a garden every year. James is survived by his loving wife of almost 54 years, Billie Maples; daughter Alicia Ann Maples of Scottsboro, Al.; son William Carrington Maples of Toledo, Ohio; grandchildren Amanda Phillips, Jonathan Phillips, Amber Phillips of Scottsboro, Alabama, Madisynn Maples of Toledo, Ohio; great grandchildren Tray Phillips, Tiya Phillips, Joshua Phillips, Kashton Phillips of Scottsboro, Al.; sister Rosalie (Maples) Denham of Hattiesburg, MS; sister in laws Rachel (James) Turner, Peggy (Doug) Drews, and Elizabeth (Alan) Wayne. Friends and family may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Monday, August 19th from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
