Elizabeth Price Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Elizabeth "Betty" Barnes Price, 102, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Monday, November 1, 2021. She was born August 19, 1919 in Toledo to Harry and Elizabeth (Giesige) Barnes. Betty graduated from Libbey High School and was also a graduate of the Bach Conservatory of Music. She was a lifetime member of St. James parish, where she served on the parish council. After St. James closed she became a member of OLPH. A person of very strong faith she was committed to the Rosary. Betty was a member of St. Joseph Auxiliary of the Sacred Heart Home and a member of the Toledo Organ Society. Betty enjoyed playing the piano, and gardening- her mother's rosebush bloomed for nearly a century. She married the love of her life, William S. Price on May 9, 1944. When he passed away in February of 1971, she knew without a doubt upon her death, they would be reunited. Betty leaves behind her niece, Paige Price (Steve Essick), nephew Frederick "Rick" (Barbara) Price, great nephew Brian (Lauren), great niece Brooke (Russ), great great nieces Julia, Sierra, and Saylor, great great nephew Tip; cousin Bernadette (Ronald) Jones, and their extended family. A good friend to many, Betty's life was enriched by the love, care and friendship of a great many wonderful people, including lifelong friend Nancy Mettler. She enjoyed day trips with her good friend and traveling companion Mel Zurek. Her family is grateful for the excellent and compassionate care she received at the Lakes of Sylvania, and for the support and kindness of Sylvania Promedica Hospice. A dear friend of Betty's, Father Charles Ritter will officiate the Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 6, at 10:30 a.m. at OLPH Church, with an hour of visitation for friends and family beginning at 9:30 a.m. Following a luncheon immediately after the Mass, burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
