Daniel Porter
April 21, 1975 - May 8, 2018
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” - Winnie the Pooh. Daniel Porter just turned 43 when he passed away in Denver, CO. For those who knew him, you know how he could light up a room with his beautiful smile and contagious laugh. He was your best friend because he lured you with his sweet charm and quick wit. He grew up in Toledo where he attended St. Patrick’s of Heatherdowns School, St. Johns Jesuit and the University of Dayton. While in Denver, Dan worked at Janus Capital where he was a Bond Financial Analyst specializing in global automotive and defense sectors. His work as an analyst took him around the world where he met with industry leaders from Ford, GM, Chrysler, TESLA, BMW, VW, UAW and Teamsters. He was passionate about the auto industry and looked forward to attending the yearly auto shows from Detroit to Paris. Dan loved sports, music and photography. He was a star athlete in football, hockey and lacrosse, as well as an accomplished photographer and musician. His love for photography brought him to incredible destinations with one of his most memorable being able to photograph the silverback gorillas in Rwanda. The beauty of nature and the outdoors inspired him, whether it was skiing or biking in the Rockies, fly fishing in Wyoming, or scuba diving in Belize. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Michael and Beverly Porter of Toledo, sister Jennifer VanDeVoorde and husband Mark from Bethlehem, PA, and brother Dr. Michael Porter Jr., wife Leticia and “soon to be” baby nephew Henry of Chicago, IL. Ceremonies will be private at a later date. Coyle Funeral Home will handle arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Dan’s honor to the Toledo Humane Society. Online condolences may be left on the Coyle website by visiting www.CoyleFuneralHome.com
