Brendan Paul Schiever
November 12, 2017
Brendan Paul Schiever, 72, formerly of Toledo, died Sunday, November 12, 2017 in the Filling Memorial Home of Mercy, Napoleon, OH, where he lived for the last 42 years. He was born in January, 1945, in the dead of winter, while his father was serving in the Navy overseas. The difficult circumstances of his birth left him profoundly disabled. His late parents, Paul and Therese Schiever, refused to send him to a state institution and instead cared for and nurtured him at home as long as they could. His years at Filling were filled with challenging lessons and interesting activities, including many trips throughout Northwest Ohio. The Filling staff’s unceasing devotion and excellent care enabled him to live a long and happy life. He is survived by his sister, Molly; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and David Schott; nephew, Brendan Behrmann (Mariam Alkabeer); and niece, Bridget Behrmann (Sylvain Petit), as well as his extended Filling family. Services and burial will be private. His sisters ask that any contributions be made to the Filling Memorial Home of Mercy, N. 160 State Route 108, Napoleon, OH 43545. Coyle Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Please leave a condolence message for his family at CoyleFuneralHome.com.
