    Barbara J. Henry

    January 26, 1931 - February 11, 2021

Barbara Henry, 90, passed away peacefully February 11, 2021. She was born January 26, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to Harry and Helen (Desmond) Coates. Barbara moved with her family several times living mostly in the Michigan and Ohio area. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1950. Barbara married James Henry in 1951. Barbara built a house alongside her husband in Maumee where they raised their six children Timothy (MaryAnn), James (Diantha), Dennis, Christopher, Daniel (Cheryl) Henry, and Nancy (Don) Stewart. She had sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She had lived for most of her life in Maumee. Her family meant everything to her. She spent most of her time either as a Little League mother or as a Girl Scout leader. As her children grew older, she started work at Medic Drug Store in Maumee Ohio. She also worked later at Meijer as a food demonstrator. Barbara didn't drive so she walked where she needed to go. She was a fabulous cook, making fantastic pies, fried chicken. Whenever you went over to her house the first thing she would do would ask if you were hungry and offer whatever she had at the time. As her children got married and started to have their own children, she couldn't help but to spoil and teach them how to draw. She enjoyed spending her time reading mystery novels and sketching, she was a fantastic artist. She enjoyed traveling and taking little drives. She had a very long medical history. She was a very strong person to withstand all the pain she endured. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She would always bring joy to a room with a kind story to share. Barbara will be extremely missed by all her family. We were all blessed to have been able to spend as much time with her as we did. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Wednesday, February 17 from 2-8 p.m. The funeral will begin on Thursday, February 18 at Coyle at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns at 10:00. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are required. Memorial donations may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Please leave a condolence for the family at CoyleFuneralHome.com.
