Sara Guzman DeLeon

Sara Guzman DeLeon, age 89 of Toledo, OH passed away while surrounded by her loving family on November 9, 2022. She was born to Henry and Elivada (Valdez) Guzman on November 26, 1932 in San Antonio, TX. She married the love of her life, Enedino DeLeon on June 7, 1950 and together they raised 8 children. She spent her career working for the Redline Meat Packing Company while devoting the rest of her time to her children. Andy and Sara instilled work ethics in their children and made them understand that you have to work hard for the good things in life. Andy and Sara were devoted donors to the Make-a-Wish Foundation and donated the property for the Scarewood Forest which was a major success for many years. She was a member of the Guadelupe Community Shrine in Decatur, IN and Little Flower of Jesus Church in Toledo. Sara's door was always open, she fed anyone needed a meal from the neighborhood and was known for her famous tamales. Andy was known as the "tamale man" because he delivered them to all of their family and friends. She also enjoyed crafts, making grave blankets, gardening, playing bingo and checkers. Sara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Andy; her parents, son, Enrique as well as, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her children, Yolanda Saenz, Norma (David) Mousoulias, Andy (Norma) Jr., Diane (Jaime) Cabrera, Johnny (Tina), Gary (Michelle); grandchildren; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-granchildren; sisters, Angela DeLeon and Lydia Luna and blessed bonus son and neighbor, Charlie Hakoes. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Tuesday, November 15th from 2:00-7:00 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 16th beginning at 9:15 a.m., in the mortuary, followed by a Funeral Mass at Little Flower Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Promedica Hospice and to Nancy Jackson and Dorinda Beamer for their compassionate care.
