Ruth A. Drake

Ruth Agnes (Dusseau) Burnett Drake 93, died peacefully in her Toledo home Friday morning. Ruth was born to Loretta and Cornelius Dusseau September 25, 1920. Ruth was a graduate of Central High School and St. Vincent School of Nursing. Along with having a full time job raising a family she also was the school nurse at St. Francis De Sales High School for 14 years. She was a very strong but gentlewoman who lived a full if not sometimes challenging life. She loved to read, knit, and play bridge with her friends. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was extremely delighted in their sports and school activities, and accomplishments in life. She was a dedicated caregiver to her husbands as they battled through their illnesses. In her later years she greatly enjoyed the companionship and appreciated the support she received from her own caregivers. Ruth loved to spend her summers at Catawba and especially enjoyed the sunsets over the lake. Ruth was preceded in death by her brothers Roy Dusseau, Bill Dusseau and sister Ethel Kerscher and by her husband’ s John Burnett whom she married in 1944 and Henry Drake whom she married in 1970. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Casey Drake and great grandchildren Clarisa Conley and Kevin Conley Jr. She is survived by her sister Doris Blagus (Richard) Florida and her children Kathleen Conley (Michael) , Texas; Richard Burnett (Kathleen), Pennsylvania; Daniel Burnett (Ann) California; Patrick Drake, Ohio; Mary Weir (Bill) Florida; Edward ”Ted” Drake (Karen), Arizona; and 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to St. Francis de Sales High School Burnett/ Drake Scholarship or Hospice of Northwest Ohio or charity of donor’s choice. Ruth’s family wants to thank the wonderful women; who for so many years providing loving care for both Henry and her. Their care and dedication made it possible for both to spend their last years peacefully at home. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home; 1770 S Reynolds Rd on Wednesday November 20, 2013 from 2-8 pm where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will begin in the mortuary on Thursday November 21, 2013 at 9:15 am followed by the funeral Mass at Christ The King Church at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
