Patrick O'Rourke

Patrick "Rocky" O'Rourke, age 84 formerly of Toledo, OH and LaSalle, MI, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on June 22, 2024. He was born to Marcel and Margaret (Huss) O'Rourke on December 8, 1939. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and then went on to serve his country proudly in the U.S. National Guard. Rocky met the love of his life, Shirley Polcyn, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. They were married there on June 13, 1964 and together they raised 4 children. Rocky and Shirley bought their "dream house" on Lake Erie, a home that they cherished where they always felt like they were on vacation. Rocky spent his career working for Ohio Bell as a Phone Repairman until the time of his retirement. Rocky loved being on the water, boating and was a member of the Toledo Sailing Club. He enjoyed beer, Notre Dame Football, his golden retriever, Darby and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing. Rocky was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley; his parents. He is survived by his children, Kelley (Bob) Copp; Shanny (David) O'Rourke Scherf, Kathleen (Tim) O'Rourke-Ayres; Patrick K. (Beth) O'Rourke; grandchildren, Justin Copp, Christopher James Zarecki, Krista (Jeremy)Fournier, MacKenzie (Jack) Henderson, Conor Copp, Brady Copp, Brendon Scherf, Olive O'Rourke Scherf, Kyle Ayres, Kalon Ayres, Kane Ayres, Ryleigh (Cody) Loveland, Delaney O'Rourke, Quinn O'Rourke; great-grandchildren, Owen and Cole Loveland, Rory and Nolan Henderson and Emma Fournier; brother, Michael O'Rourke. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Historic Church of St. Patrick, 130 Avondale, Toledo, OH 43604, on Friday, June 28th at 11:00 a.m. where the family will begin greeting guests at 10:00 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Monroe Area Humane Society.
