Michael James Konczal

Michael J. Konczal August 15, 1938 - March 9, 2026 Michael J. Konczal, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on August 15, 1938, to his loving parents, Michael and Martha (Liberkowski) Konczal. Michael was married to the love of his life, Carol (Rosinski) Konczal, for 65 years. The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 15, 2025-a milestone Michael thoughtfully and meticulously helped plan, reflecting just how deeply he cherished Carol and their life together. A graduate of the University of Dayton, Michael built an accomplished career as a mechanical engineer and businessman. He worked for Dohler-Jarvis and Metallurgical Products in Toledo, Ohio, before purchasing Metallurgical Products and relocating the company to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He later served as President of Polymet Alloys and as National Sales Manager for SKW, Inc. In the later chapter of his career, he and his son James co-founded their own company, ASK Metallurgical, where his lifelong dedication to hard work and innovation continued to flourish. Beyond his career, Michael found great joy in tending to their beautiful countryside property and spending time outdoors. He was an avid golfer, proud of his remarkable four holes-in-one. A lifelong Notre Dame football fan-a tradition begun by his father and carried on by his son and grandsons. Above all, Michael loved supporting his grandchildren, attending their theater performances and sporting events with unwavering enthusiasm. Even as late as last year, he could be found cheering on his grandson Victor's tennis matches, undeterred by cold or stormy weather. Michael will be remembered for his determination, his strong sense of responsibility, and his steadfast devotion to family. He faced life's challenges directly and was always there to help those he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Martha (Liberkowski) Konczal; his brothers, Melvin and Raymond; and his sisters, Nancy Nawrocki and Geraldine Thebes. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Rosinski) Konczal; his son, James Konczal, and daughter-in-law, Gina (Renteros) Konczal; and his beloved grandchildren, Alex, Stephanie, and Victor. Visitation and funeral services will be held Monday March 16 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Parish in Toledo, Ohio. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private at a later date, at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Michael's honor to St. Hyacinth Catholic Parish.
