Melinda Weiner

Melinda Ann Weiner (Mercurio), devoted wife and loving mother, entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at her home in Maumee, Ohio. Melinda was born January 6th, 1950 in Toledo to Roy and Rita Mercurio (Hoffer) and was the middle-child of their five children. As a young girl she attended Ladyfield Catholic School and then St. Ursula Academy, where she graduated from in 1968. She continued her education, ultimately earning an Associate's Degree in Accounting in 1970 from UT Com-Tech. She worked a variety of retail jobs, but spent the majority of her working years with United Parcel Service and The Toledo Blade. In 2017, she retired from both organizations after more than 30 years of service to each. On March 22, 1969 Melinda married the love of her life, Ralph Weiner, to whom she remained married for 47 years until Ralph passed in October 2016. Together, they created and raised a family that included seven children at their Springfield Township home. Her greatest passion and joy in life was being a mother and eventually a grandmother. Her life was dedicated to her children and her family. Whether it was sewing a Halloween costume or Christmas stocking, which she was extremely gifted at, or transporting her children to one of the myriad of sporting events over the years, she did it lovingly. Her love was not limited to her own children, as friends and neighbors were always welcomed in her home. She would be the first person to set an additional plate at the table or pull out some extra pillows and blankets for an unexpected guest or two. She enjoyed a number of other activities and hobbies throughout her life. She enjoyed bowling. She enjoyed planting flowers and growing vegetables in her garden. She enjoyed listening and dancing to music. She enjoyed collecting and finding the value where others may not have. She enjoyed Life! She labored relentlessly and loved unconditionally. Melinda will be deeply and sorely missed as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Melinda is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Rita, her husband Ralph, her son Alexander Roy, and two daughters Erin Laurien and Monica Rita. She is survived by her four siblings: Joseph (Joan) Mercurio, Christine (Bryn) Jones, Shelley (Charles) Benore, and Lisa Mercurio, her four children: Adam (Kimberly), Phillip, Jillian, and Nicholas (Marissa) and seven grandchildren: Madison, Gage, McKenzie, Noah, Abigail, Meredith, and Mallory. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd on Tuesday, June 6 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00. The Funeral will begin at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, followed by Mass at 10:30 at St. Joan of Arc Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
