Mary Catherine Loch

LOCH Mary Catherine (Katie) Mary Catherine (Katie) Loch, age 87, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born to John and Mildred (Duvall) TenEyck on April 13, 1929 in Oregon Township, Ohio. She was a graduate from Clay High School and married Cletus G. Loch on April 19, 1947 and he preceded her in death (September 2001). She began her working career after her children were all in school at many companies, Associated Groceries, Medical College of Ohio, Haughton Elevator, and City of Toledo, Inspection, where she retired in 1989. Her favorite treasured talents were crocheting Afghans, quilting comforters and table runners, as well as knitting hats, gloves and scarves for those winter months. You could also see and smell the home baked cakes, cookies and pies from her many cook books. Christmas time was the all-time favorite for the helpers in the kitchen, making many dozens of her special recipes. She was affectionately known as “Grams” to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, spending many days with them sitting on her lap to play card games, Uno and reading favorite stories, “But No Elephants”, Grimm’s Fairy Tales, and “Old Time Happy Times with Mother Goose”. Her love of church and faith were her goals to happiness in her life, sharing her time, talents, and treasures to the Sisters of Notre Dame Family Fest, preparing food for church funeral luncheons, bake sales and wherever she could fulfil the community need. In the morning and evenings, you could always find more than one rosary and Book of Prayers at her side. She also enjoyed the beauty of nature sitting in her sunroom watching the yellow finch, blue jays, cardinals, and her favorite, the humming birds. Left to cherish her memory are her children, John (Andrea) Loch, Donna Jean (Ray) Darr and Nick Loch; grandchildren, Nicole (Jeff) Carey, Jason (Amy) Loch, Michelle (Greg) Buck, Jon and Rachel Loch; great grandchildren, Jayson, Natalie, Joshua, Justin, Jackson Carey, Teagan Huenke, Graham Loch, Mason, Gage and Maya Buck. She is also survived by her sisters, Madonna Henderson, Marge Brown and brother Paul TenEyck, brother in law, Fred Loch, sisters in law, Bertha Loch and Mary Lumbrezer, along with several nieces and nephews. Mary Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Cletus, son, David (January 1969) and Janis Dae Beaver Loch, daughter in law (January 2013); siblings John, Robert, Eugene, James TenEyck, Ruth Welling, Delores Hirzel, and Patricia Frasher. Visitation will be at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Friday, August 5th from 2 –8 with a Prayer Service to begin at 7p.m. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, August 6th, 9:30, at Coyle, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, officiated by Fr. David Ritchie. There will be a bereavement luncheon following the mass at the church. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Marygrove Cemetery. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Home Care by Blackstone, St Luke’s Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their tender and loving care.
