Marie Angela McCrary

Our 92 year old, dear mother, Marie Angela McCrary died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by loving family on April 10, 2013 at the Methodist Healthcare Hospice in Memphis, TN. Marie was born in Toledo, Ohio to the late Michael and Mary Hallett, one of fourteen children. She married Edward W. McCrary, who preceded her in death on February 2, 1982. Marie will forever be remembered, by her loving sister Delores Howard, beloved children Leslie A. Dotson (Donnie), Kathleen M. Gill, (Frank); and treasured grandchildren Robert A. Demko, Michael K. Demko, and Angela M. Irving (Tracy), Kendra M. Kasch, Gregory L. Kasch, Jr:, and dearly loved great- grandchildren, Lindsay and Tyler Irving as well as her many cousins, nieces, and nephews. For 15 years, Marie was employed as a winder for Save Electric Corporation located on Front Street in East Toledo. She was a strong union advocate and of her many accomplishments was to write a popular column called the “LampLighter” which was published in the Toledo Union Journal from 1964 -1966. In 1986, Marie retired from the Peterson Corporation, aka, Lock Rings in Maumee Ohio. Marie was dedicated to her faith and a member of St. Rose’s Catholic Church, Perrysburg, OH, and remained active where she volunteered her time serving parish dinners or making rosaries for the nursing home patients. Due to her failing health in 2007, Marie moved to Memphis, TN to live with her daughter. Marie was devoted to her family and enjoyed music, dancing, card playing and was an excellent cook and homemaker. She was an avid sports fan and passionately followed the University of Toledo football and basketball attending many of the home games. While attending one of UT football games, Marie was thrilled, when she skillfully caught the football in the end zone, as it was kicked for a field goal. Marie’s lively spirit was enjoyed by many friends and family members, especially at family gatherings and picnics. Her humor, laughter, and wisdom will be sorely missed. Family and friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd, on Sunday April 14th from 2-8 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15th beginning at 9:45 a.m., in the mortuary, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Rose Church, Perrysburg. Interment will follow at St. Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can sent to ALSAC/St. Jude’s Children’s’ Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
