Joyce E Armbruster

Joyce E. (Picott) Armbruster, 86, passed away quietly on June 21, 2016 at Swanton Valley Center from Alzheimers. She was born on May 21, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to Joseph S. and Doris B. (Walker) Picott. Joyce was married on May 8, 1954 to Robert E. Armbruster at St. Rose church in Perrysburg, Ohio. They lived in Maumee with their children. Joyce later moved to South Toledo. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1948. She enjoyed attending her early reunions so much that she joined the Reunion Committee. She enjoyed corresponding with former classmates near and far. She later decided to have 4-5 class reunion luncheons every year. She did that for 7-8 years before she passed on the responsibilities to other classmates. Shortly after her husband died, she received a call from St. Joseph’s church rectory offering her a job. After 13 years of working at St. Joseph’s, she worked for Heatherdowns Automotive as the bookkeeper. She later went to work in the office of Dr. Sesinando Torres and Drs. Antonio and Richard Paat. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading and playing cards- Pinochle, Bridge, Rummy and Solitaire were her favorite past times. She always had a kind word and smile for everyone she knew and everyone she met. Joyce was a strong woman, a wonderful role model for her daughter, and her best friend and mother. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, her step-father John T. Hunt, step-mother Grace Hope Picott, son, Michael R. Armbruster, and step-brother James Rahe. She is survived by her daughter Bernadette M. Armbruster- McCormick (Kevin), her cousin Carol BeVando, half-sister Sue Helen Picott, step-siblings Patricia (Haynes) Russell, Janet (Edward) Johnson, George (Carol) Rahe, sisters-in-laws Catherine (Robert) Miller and Margaret (Thomas) Langevin, along with many nieces and nephews. Thank you to the staff at The Glendale Assisted Living Facility and Swanton Valley Center, and Dr. Richard Paat and his staff for their care of Joyce. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Friday, June 24 from 2-7 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7 p.m. The funeral will begin in the mortuary on Saturday, June 25 at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at St. Joseph’s Church in Maumee at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
