Edward L. Kelley

Edward L. Kelley, age 81 of Toledo passed away on August 14, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born in Somerville, Massachusetts to John and Marie Kelley on November 11, 1930. He was a graduate of North Quincy High School (1948) and Boston College (1958) where he received his Bachelor of Science. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He spent his career working as a National Accounts Manager for the Union Camp Corporation until the time of his retirement. Ed wanted to spread God’s word and love. He was ordained a Deacon in the Catholic Church in 1990. He was quoted as saying, “God has been very good to me and I have a great responsibility to be an extension of that love. I’m anxious to see what plans the Lord has in store for me. I’m listening.” He was a member of Gesu Catholic Church, where he was a baseball Coach for the Gesu School for 6 years, St. Vincent DePaul Society, The Sight Center, the Lamplighter’s Dance Club. Ed enjoyed traveling, the theatre, ballroom dancing, exercising at St. Luke’s Cardiac Care with his good friends. He was an avid member of the Boston Red Sox Nation. Ed was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Ed is preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis; his parents; son, Brian and granddaughter, Morgan. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Nancy; children, Dr. Kathleen (Tom) Kelley Garvin, Mark (Debbie) Kelley, Susan (Jose) Kelley-Almeida, Anne (Bob) Cavellier and Lynn (Tom) Fleure; daughter-in-law, Susie Kelley; grandchildren, Martin, Joseph, Steven and Matthew Garvin, Casey, Quinn, Emma, Olivia and Rachel Kelley, Emily, Tess and Maggie Cavellier. Family and friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Friday from 2-8 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m., in the mortuary, followed by a Funeral Mass at Gesu Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Lutheran Village at WolfCreek. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Gesu Church or to the Way Public Library Foundation.
