Carol K. Dunlap

Carol Kersting Dunlap, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2012. She was born in Ottawa, Ohio on June 7, 1923 to Alphonse and Mary Kersting. Carol graduated from Miami of Ohio University in 1944 with a major in business. She was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. After graduation, Carol went to New York City and worked for the American Merchandising Corporation as a buyer. In New York, she met the love of her life, Joseph H. Dunlap, who had just returned from World War II. They were married at Riverside Church in New York City on November 23, 1946. Together they raised three children. After each of her children had graduated from Miami of Ohio, Carol joined her husband to begin a very successful career in real estate. She was a sales agent with Loss Realty Group in Toledo. Above all, Carol loved her family. She and Joe were married for 62 years and had such a happy time together until his passing in 2010. Carol was involved in all of her children's activities from serving as Cub Scout Den Mother to nurturing a variety of pets. Carol was a splendid cook and was known for her cookies, vegetable soup and Christmas caramels. She was an avid gardener-liked her zinnias- and was a scrap booker. She took particular interest in documenting her family's history. Carol belonged to the Lincoln League at Collingwood Presbyterian Church. She loved playing bridge and attended aerobics classes well into her 70's. Carol was an angel on earth! She had a gentle and caring spirit. She was grateful for her time here and will be missed by all. Carol is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, J. Richard (Dick) and Connie Zimmerman Dunlap of Grosse Pointe, Michigan and Thomas and Kathy Photos Dunlap of Cincinnati, Ohio. She also is survived by her five grandsons, Brad (Stephanie), Todd (Molly), Eric (Katie), Sam and Andy and five great grandchildren, Will, Abby, Ben, Ella and Jake. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Davidson, of Lakeville, Connecticut and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband and daughter, Barbara Jo Dunlap Kamm, predeceased her. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Swan Creek Retirement Village located at 5916 Cresthaven Lane, Toledo, Ohio 43614.
