History- 120 Years and going strong

For more than a century, Coyle Funeral Home has been serving families throughout Northwest Ohio. Carrying a long family tradition, Coyle has become synonymous with caring, compassionate and personal service with commitment to genuine, quality care. Our full service traditional burial and cremation funeral home remains family owned and operated.

In 1888, James Coyle opened his first funeral home near downtown Toledo. A civic-minded leader and local activist, Mr. Coyle wanted to help his neighbors and created a business to reach out to families in mourning.

Mr. Coyle expanded the funeral home as it was passed to his son William, and grandsons William and James Coyle. Today fourth generation Joseph and his daughter, Megan Coyle Stamos, fifth generation, continue the business. The Coyle family and its dedicated staff pride themselves on the faithful tradition of serving with knowledge, integrity and comfort families have come to rely on through difficult times.

“When my great grandmother passed away, she was cared for by James Coyle, there was only one funeral home I would have care for my mother when she moved on from this life…Joe Coyle showed the same level of care and compassion as his great grandfather did so long ago…”
